Former Canes: How Are They Elsewhere?

One of the things my friends know about me is that I like to look at things on a global scale and that definitely includes following hockey leagues and teams from other parts of the world such as Sweden, Finland, Russia, and even Australia.  While this is indeed a Hurricanes blog, we will dedicate a portion of our blog towards how former Hurricane players are doing elsewhere in the NHL as well as in other leagues around the world.

Depending on the time schedule that I have I am hoping to churn out an article every two weeks, but there will definitely be one every month and each article will focus on one, sometimes two, players and how they have been playing for their new teams.  Some of the players we will look at may have only played a year for the team, while others were definitely a part of the Cane's backbone for sometime, but regardless they did play for the Canes and will forever be a part of the team's history.

The lists below are the players I want to focus on for the upcoming year.  Both lists are not definitive and will possibly expand, too.

Former Canes in the NHL:
Andrew Ladd (Winnipeg Jets)
Jerome Samson (Winnipeg Jets)
Jamie McBain (Buffalo Sabres)
Dennis Seidenberg (Boston Bruins)
Dan Ellis (Dallas Stars)
Ray Whitney (Dallas Stars)
Erik Cole (Dallas Stars)
Joe Corvo (Ottawa Senators)
Brandon Sutter (Pittsburgh Penguins)
Jussi Jokinen (Pittsburgh Penguins)

Former Canes Around the World:
Sandis Ozolinsh (Dinamo Riga- KHL)
Tim Wallace (Orebro HK- Sweden)
Andreas Nodl (Lausanne HC- Switzerland)
Tim Brent (Torpedo- KHL)
Anton Babchuk (Salavat Yulaev Ufa- KHL)
Bobby Sanguinetti (Barys Astana- KHL)
Martin Gerber (Kloten Flyers- Switzerland)
Sami Kapanen (KalPa- Finland)

I plan on alternating from NHL to International for each article.  I will start off with a former Cane playing outside the NHL since the leagues in Europe have already started, but I have not decided yet on who I will cover, but you will surely see an article next week!
