Welcome!

Welcome fellow Caniacs and other NHL enthusiasts to The Original Caniac blog.  This blog has been inspired by other hockey blogs out there on the interwebs.  My friend, C. Cole, and myself, A. Caldwell will be your authors for the foreseeable future.  Now that you know all about us it's time to let you know what you can expect from this awesome blog.

Weekly Report:  We plan to post this once a week just to clarify.  This weekly report will be an overview of the Hurricanes at the end of each week during the season.  We will report various statistics and provide an analysis of their games.

News and Rumors:  This section will cover; injury reports, trade rumors, and news stories both from the Canes and the NHL.

Hurricane Tracker:  First section with a cool name.  This section will be a way for us to rate the game of certain players at the end of the week.  Ratings will range from Tropical Depression to Category 5 Hurricanes.  Tropical depression ratings will result from players being on an extremely cold streak or doing something incredibly dumb.  Category 5 ratings will result from a player showing extreme skill or having a really hot streak.

3 Stars:  Here we will let you know who we would pick for the 3 stars of the week.  In addition, we will report our 3 stars for the month.

Opinions:  This section is really left open for interpretation.  We could tell you anything from what we think about a player to what we think about the fans.  These will be posted when we feel like, deal with it.

Former Canes:  We will report about former Canes players and how they are doing.  This will include players that are in the NHL as well as other leagues in different countries.  We will get this information to you on a monthly basis.

Checkers Checkup:  Another monthly update that will include some good information about the Charlotte Checkers.  For those of you that don't know who they are, you might be reading the wrong blog.

Rate the Refs:  This section will be a weekly report on our beloved friends, the referees.  The rating system will be 0-10 with half points awarded for good behavior.  Lucky for these referees we aren't French and this is not figure skating.

We hope to keep you well informed about all the Carolina Hurricanes happenings.  We always look forward to comments and open discussion about the team.  Thank you for visiting and we hope to see you again soon.

A. Caldwell and C. Cole
